TRENTON – Jonas Joyner continued his dominant stretch at the plate Monday afternoon, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Woodington Raiders pulled away from Jones Middle School for an 11-5 victory at Jones Senior High School.

Joyner collected singles in the second, third, and fourth innings, including a two-run knock that helped Woodington reclaim the lead after falling behind 5-4 in the third.

The Raiders (6-1) exploded for seven unanswered runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Heath McLawhorn drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game before Joyner gave them the lead for good. Woodington showed patience all day at the plate, drawing nine walks and racking up 16 stolen bases—four players recorded multiple steals, including Joyner, Daelin Tyndall, Richie Racobaldo, and Jacob Burkett.

Cannon Sumner and Burkett each brought in early runs in the second inning, while Sumner added an RBI groundout in the third.

Landen Coples earned the win in relief, allowing no hits and no runs over 2.1 innings while striking out four. McLawhorn got the start, fanning six over 2.1 innings but walked six and allowed four runs. Burkett made a relief appearance to help close it out.

Racobaldo paced the team with three walks and helped ignite a sixth-inning rally that gave the Raiders breathing room. Defensively, Woodington held firm after the third inning, keeping Jones Middle scoreless the rest of the way.

Jones was led by five different players—Mallard, Murphy, Downs, Crump, and Banks—each driving in a run. Banks led the team with three walks, and Coward added a pair of steals.

Up Next: Woodington travels to Arendell Parrott Academy on Thursday for a non-conference matchup.
