Hawks Take Down The Blue Devils in Four Sets
In a hard-fought, four-set clash, North Lenoir toppled their cross-county rivals, South Lenoir, last night in Deep Run. The match featured a nail-biting sequence of sets, ending 14-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 in favor of North Lenoir, improving their season record to an impressive 11-1.
Laykn Whitley led the charge for North Lenoir, racking up 11 kills and 6 digs, while Kaylee Kennedy contributed with 8 kills and a staggering 8 blocks. Alyssa Hatcher and Maya Lynch anchored the team with a collective 28 service points and 12 assists.
“After a shaky first set, our girls settled down and focused and communicated as a team,” said North Lenoir Coach Heather Carson. “Our team really stepped up to get a big conference road win.”
On the South Lenoir side, Madison Harvey acknowledged the strong competition. “It’s always fun competing and playing against North Lenoir,” she said. “The competition was great. My girls played well, but we have a couple of things I think we can improve on. I’m very proud of the way they played!”
Both teams showcased their talent and grit, but it was North Lenoir that walked away with the conference win. As the season progresses, it’s evident that both squads have high ceilings and plenty to look forward to.
