Hawks Fall 48-12 to Stallions
LAGRANGE, N.C. — In their first home game since the passing of Coach Tony Hill, the North Lenoir Hawks fell to the Southwest Onslow Stallions 48-12 on Friday night. The game showcased the resilience of a grieving Hawks team.
"The kids are resilient and have done really well," said Head Coach Larry Dale.
The Stallions set the tone with an early rushing touchdown. However, the Hawks quickly responded with a 2-yard quarterback keeper from Malachi Ramsey for a touchdown. Ramsey finished the game with 21 yards rushing and 51 yards passing.
Southwest Onslow quickly regained momentum with a 76-yard rushing touchdown on the first play from scrimmage following the Hawks' score. From there, the Stallions dominated, keeping the Hawks off the scoreboard until 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Malik Fuller broke North Lenoir's scoring drought with a run, accumulating 165 yards on 31 carries during the game.
Defensively, the Hawks struggled, allowing the Stallions to rush for a combined 284 yards and pass for 116 yards.
North Lenoir (1-4) will look to rebound next Friday night as they travel to face Wallace-Rose Hill (2-3) in their second conference matchup of the season.
