Hawks Kick Their Way to 6-2 Victory Over South Central
WHEAT SWAMP, N.C. — North Lenoir's soccer team clinched their fourth win of the season in a decisive 6-2 victory over South Central, elevating their record to 4-2. The Hawks showcased a balanced attack, with multiple players contributing to the scoreline.
Offensive Firepower
Maddox Smith led the charge with a hat-trick, including a penalty kick, and an assist. Israel Amanza, Yahir Hernandez, and Jesus Tyndall each contributed a goal, rounding out a potent offensive display. Nery Aguilar and Chase Sutton provided crucial assists, setting up their teammates for success.
Defensive Prowess
On the defensive end, goaltender Kevin Rodriguez made a significant impact with five saves, anchoring the Hawks' defense throughout the match.
Captains Weigh In
Post-game interviews with team captains Kevin Rodriguez, Chase Sutton, and Mason Sasser revealed a unified perspective on the team's performance and areas for improvement.
"I saw some good defense, but we need to communicate more and get better on our passing game," said Rodriguez.
Sutton echoed Rodriguez's sentiments, adding, "I think we are starting the season off strong. We have a winning season already, and hopefully, we can keep winning and getting more goals."
Sasser noted the team's passing ability but cautioned, "We played pretty well and showed we are a good passing team, but we got tired at the end."
Looking Ahead
All three captains agreed that improved communication is vital for the team's continued success. As the season progresses, the Hawks aim to build on their winning record by focusing on teamwork and communication.
North Lenoir will kick off their conference play next Wednesday against Southwest Onslow, adding another layer of significance to their already promising season.
