Hawks defeat Bruins 3-0 in Volleyball
Wheat Swamp, NC — North Lenoir's volleyball team made a resounding statement Tuesday night, sweeping Beddingfield 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-8, and an astonishing 25-1 in the final set. The victory moves the Hawks to a 5-1 record, avenging their lone loss of the season to Rosewood last week.
Hatcher's Serving Spree
In a performance that left spectators cheering in awe, Alyssa Hatcher served 23 consecutive service points in the final set, giving North Lenoir an insurmountable 23-0 lead. Hatcher finished the night with 28 service points and nine aces.
Balanced Attack
It wasn't just Hatcher who shined. Laykn Whitley contributed 11 kills, while Haley Hemby added 11 service points and seven aces. Ricayla Warren rounded out the team's balanced attack with four kills and two blocks.
Coaches and Players Weigh In
"We wanted to use this game as momentum to get us ready for conference play, which starts tomorrow against Southwest," said North Lenoir coach Heather Carson. "I thought we were very aggressive at the net. When our passes are there, our sets are there, we can put it away. When all that clicks, it can look really nice out there."
Hatcher echoed her coach's sentiments, saying, "Coach was giving me spots, and that's what I was working on. I think I executed it pretty well, and my team helped me a lot with that. I felt pretty good."
Up Next
North Lenoir will look to carry this momentum into their conference opener as they host Southwest Onslow tomorrow at home.
