Greene Central's Jordan Scott Commits to Lenoir Community College

SNOW HILL– In a moment filled with pride and accomplishment, Greene Central’s standout centerfielder Jordan Scott officially signed his letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Lenoir Community College. Scott, who has been a key player for the Rams since his freshman year, is set to bring his remarkable defensive abilitites and consistent offensive contributions to the Lancers.

Standing at 5’7” and 145 pounds, Scott has made a name for himself with his electric defensive skills. Known for his diving catches and spectacular plays, Scott has been a fixture in centerfield for Greene Central. Despite missing his junior season, Scott returned to earn All-Conference honors in the Eastern Plain Conference. He finished his senior year batting .303 with 23 hits, 10 RBIs, 24 runs, and nine stolen bases. His contributions were pivotal as the Rams completed a historic season with a 29-1 record, culminating in the NCHSAA 2A Championship.

Scott's impact extended beyond the field. Batting in the nine-hole, he was often referred to as the team’s second leadoff hitter. Despite having the ninth most at-bats on the team, he ranked fourth in hits, third in runs scored, and second in stolen bases. His flawless performance in the field, with a perfect fielding percentage and zero errors, highlighted his reliability and skill.

Scott is known for his athleticism, having also played quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback in football. He participated in JV basketball and wrestled, showcasing his versatility and commitment across multiple sports.

Reflecting on his achievement, Scott expressed his pride and gratitude.

"I am very proud. It is a great moment; it is all I can ask for. I have been working for this since I was six years old. It has always been my dream," he said.

Scott plans to major in welding at Lenoir Community College, where he will continue to develop both academically and athletically. His father, Trey Scott, shared his pride and admiration for his son’s journey.

"I am extremely proud and happy for him. He has matured a lot over the past 2-3 years and has gone through some things that most teenagers don't have to go through, but he never gave up," Trey Scott said. He also praised Jordan's work ethic, saying, "Man, I have pushed him a lot, but he has never complained. One thing I love about him that LCC will love as well, he is a dog. He is going to work."

Greene Central's athletic director and assistant baseball coach, David Bryant, echoed these sentiments.

"We are proud of Jordan. Jordan has had a great year this year," Bryant said. "We know Coach Smith is getting a great young man, and he's going to be an asset for the Lancers next year on the baseball field and in the future."

Scott's commitment to Lenoir Community College marks the next step in a journey that has been defined by dedication, resilience, and hard work. As he transitions from Greene Central to LCC, Scott leaves behind a legacy of excellence and sets the stage for continued success at the collegiate level.
