Greene Central Standout Kamari Hall Commits to Barton College

SNOW HILL—Neuse News Sports' Defensive Player of the Year, Kamari Hall, has signed with Barton College to continue his football career. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive lineman, affectionately nicknamed "Hulk" by his head football coach Jay Wilson, has been a standout player for the Greene Central Rams, showcasing his versatility as both a defensive end and defensive tackle.

Hall, a 3-year starter for the Rams, played varsity football, basketball and track and was named captain of the football team that went 10-2, ultimately losing in the second round of the playoffs to Nash Central. He was instrumental in leading the team to a historical 8-0 start, following a challenging sophomore year with a 1-6 record and a 4-7 junior year.

In his senior year, Hall posted impressive stats with 101 tackles, averaging 8.4 tackles per game, three sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception returned for a touchdown. Over his career, Hall accumulated 206 tackles, six sacks, and one interception.

Initially, Hall's first love was basketball, but he soon found a passion for football. He has been an exemplary role model for his younger brothers and teammates, setting high standards in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA, the weight room, and on the field.

"I feel good," Hall said about signing with Barton College. "There were times when I didn't know if I was going to play football again, but after signing with Barton, I have regained that clarity and will do great things at Barton."

When asked about the type of player Barton College is getting, Hall responded, "A hungry defensive player that will play any position, very versatile, ready to work, always ready to grind, not ducking any competition, but also getting a kid that does very well in school as well."

Reflecting on his time at Greene Central, Hall said, "I am extremely proud of being a Ram. This was my year to leave, but I feel like I have left a great legacy here, being a part of the renaissance of the great Greene Central football team this year going from 4-7 to 10-2. We are obviously trending in the right direction."

Hall's mother, Shanika Webb, expressed her excitement and pride in her son's accomplishments. Webb mentioned every since he tried out for football in seventh grade, her son was hooked.

"To see him divert from basketball, and now football has become such a passion for him. Anything he grasps, he puts his heart and soul into it. As much as he has eaten and slept basketball, he has done the same in football."

Hall has been way more than just a athlete. He is also a role model in his house old. They oldest of the three, Hall has set the example.

"Kamari has set the standard for them in so many ways," said Hall's mother, Shanika Webb. "He is so passionate about everything he sets his mind to, that it automatically becomes a routine pattern. They look up to their big brother, and whatever he does, they want to do too. They naturally fall in line."

Kamari's father, Tony Hall, added, "I am super proud. As a father, you couldn't ask for anything else. The young man took care of things like he was supposed to do. He took care of business on and off the court, on and off the field, and in the classroom. I thank God."

Greene Central head football coach Jay Wilson believes Kamari's journey will inspire the younger players on the team. "Now they understand what it takes and the process to get to this point in their athletic journey."

There is no doubt that Kamari Hall's dedication and passion for football will continue to make an impact on the field as he moves on to Barton College.
