Greene Central Tennis Dominates in 8-1 Victory Over Ayden-Grifton, Extends Win Streak to Four
Snow Hill, NC — The Greene Central Rams girls' tennis team secured an emphatic 8-1 win against Ayden-Grifton, marking their first conference victory of the season. With this win, the Rams improve to a 4-2 record and extend their winning streak to four games.
Singles Showdowns
In the #1 Singles match, junior Anna Katherine Medlin of Greene Central made quick work of Ayden-Grifton's senior Emery Hunt, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
Rylee Greene, another junior from Greene Central, followed suit in the #2 Singles, defeating junior Kaitlyn Wood of Ayden-Grifton with identical 6-1 sets.
Sophomore Aubree Smith added to Greene Central's tally in the #3 Singles, overcoming junior Makayla Horton of Ayden-Grifton 6-0, 6-3.
In the #4 Singles, sophomore Grace Baggett of Greene Central triumphed over junior Meredith Davies of Ayden-Grifton, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Ayden-Grifton's lone win came in the #5 Singles, where senior Lauren Landmark defeated junior Coley Dyer of Greene Central 6-1, 6-1.
Morgan Davis, a sophomore from Greene Central, rounded out the singles victories by defeating junior Addison Hardee of Ayden-Grifton 6-2, 6-2 in the #6 Singles.
Doubles Drama
The Rams continued their dominance in the doubles matches. In the #1 Doubles, the pairing of Anna Katherine Medlin and Grace Baggett crushed the Ayden-Grifton duo of Kaitlyn Wood and Makayla Horton with an 8-0 win.
The #2 Doubles saw Rylee Greene and Aubree Smith of Greene Central edge out Ayden-Grifton's Emery Hunt and Lauren Landmark in a closely contested match, finishing 8-6.
In the #3 Doubles, Greene Central's Coley Dyer and Morgan Davis secured another 8-6 win, this time against Ayden-Grifton's Addison Hardee and Avery Tittle.
