Greene Central JV Rams Keep Rolling With 40-0 Win

AYDEN—The Greene Central Junior Varsity Rams showcased a dominant performance on the road, blanking Ayden-Grifton 40-0 last Thursday night. With this victory, the Rams' record propels to an unblemished 6-0, and 2-0 in the conference play, signifying a strong momentum as they progress through the season.

The Rams have an impressive track record, having won 15 out of their last 16 games dating back to the previous season. The dominance was evident right from the kickoff as they raced to a 12-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, which further ballooned to 26-0 by halftime. The offensive machinery of the Rams was in full throttle, displaying a plethora of play types that kept the Ayden-Grifton defense guessing. The playbook featured option runs, play-actions, screens, quick passes, and deep one-on-one connections down the field.

Sophomore Dejuan Cobb continued his stellar performances on the ground, eluding chargers with his agility and strength. Quarterback Tre Bynum orchestrated the offense seamlessly, distributing the ball to multiple receivers including Kam Vandiford, Sam Avent, and Devaun Brewington. The versatility of Tight end/Receiver Jason Wilson II, also known as "Deuce", was on full display as he lined up at the wideout position, winning his one-on-one in a perfectly thrown 40-yard touchdown pass from Bynum.

Head Coach Winston Thorpe couldn't hide his enthusiasm about the dedication and execution of his players. "The kids buy into what we are building," Thorpe said. He reminisced about his journey since last year, "Got here last year, went from service level of building a great football program on the JV level, they execute, listen and believe. At the beginning of the year, we lost two quarterbacks and God blessed me with this man right here (Tre Bynum), and the rest is history." On Tre's swift transition from a wide receiver to a quarterback, Coach Thorpe couldn't help but praise, "Tre is one of the best kids you're gonna meet as a person and an athlete. I look at him so much like a son because he listens to the things I try to teach him and buys into what I'm trying to do here."

Tre Bynum expressed his gratitude towards his teammates, especially his offensive line. "I am thankful for all my teammates, but mostly I am thankful for my linemen. They really opened up some holes tonight and it wouldn't be possible without them," Bynum acknowledged.

The Rams are geared up and looking forward to continuing their winning spree as they face Washington next Thursday in Washington. The synergy and tenacity displayed by the Rams promise an electrifying matchup in the coming week.
