Greene Central and Kinston Secure Spots in NCHSAA 2A Football Playoffs
In the latest NCHSAA 2A football playoff brackets, Greene Central and Kinston have secured their places, although they’ll be entering as underdogs. Both teams finished their regular seasons with 4-6 records, and now face steep challenges in the opening round of the postseason.
Greene Central Rams: The 28th Seed
Greene Central will hit the road to square off against fifth-seeded Wallace Rose Hill. The Rams have some standout performers: ATH James Ballard has rushed for 1,150 yards and seven touchdowns, while also contributing defensively with three interceptions. On the other side of the ball, Tyler Williams is Greene Central’s defensive stalwart, leading the team in tackles with 71 and adding 22 tackles for loss.
Kinston Vikings: The 32nd Seed
Kinston also faces a tough journey, taking on top-seeded Clinton. The Vikings’ offense is helmed by QB Qurron Ross, who has thrown for more than 2,200 yards and 26 touchdowns this season. His primary weapon, WR Tyreek Copper, has chalked up nearly 900 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

#5 seed Wallace Rose Hill poses an equally daunting challenge. Their backfield tandem of Corbin Kerr and Irving Brown have been sensational. In just nine games, Kerr has rushed for 1,683 yards and 20 touchdowns, while Brown has amassed 1,194 yards and 17 touchdowns.
