Kinston's Qurron Ross Wins NNS MVP
The MVP race was captivating throughout the season, with all three candidates showcasing their skills from the first game to the last. We are confident in our selection of these standout athletes.
Our team, consisting of six voters, along with the community's social media vote (accounting for 10% of the decision), reached a unanimous decision among the voters. The community MVP vote favored North Lenoir’s Malik Fuller. However, the voters unanimously selected a different candidate. It's time to announce the 2023-24 NNS Football MVP: Qurron Ross, quarterback from Kinston High. Ross completed 197 out of 331 passes, amassing 2,406 passing yards with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Ross led the area with the most yards and touchdowns. He demonstrated his ability to execute any throw, whether short, medium, or deep, all while maintaining composure in the pocket. The Kinston quarterback skillfully distributed the ball, as evidenced by the fact that the top three wide receivers in our area in terms of yards all hail from Kinston High (Cooper, Simmons, Jones). Ross's most memorable performance was in the matchup against North Lenoir, where he threw six first-half passing touchdowns and finished the game with an impressive 26 out of 35 passes for 365 yards and 7 touchdowns.
