CSS fights back to overcome Frink in Baseball
In a closely contested match, the Frink Cavaliers saw their two-game conference winning streak come to an end as they suffered an 8-7 loss at home to Contentnea Savannah (CSS) middle school team.
Despite a strong start from pitcher Jacob Jones, some costly mistakes by the Cavaliers allowed CSS to tie the game after five innings and eventually take the lead in the sixth.
The Cavs were unable to pull off the victory, falling to 2-1 in conference play and 2-2 overall. Jones put in a solid performance on the mound, while Hunter Southerland led the way at the plate, hitting two shots and driving in some clutch runs.
Frink Coach Chad Kearney expressed the challenges with his team's performance, citing defensive errors as the main reason for the loss.
"We didn't do the little things well and that was the deciding factor," he said.
The Cavs will look to bounce back in their next game, a non-conference matchup against Parrott on Wednesday.
