Cavaliers Outlast Parrott Academy for 8-5 Win, Improve to 6-5
KINSTON, N.C. — The Frink Cavaliers continue to climb the right side of the standings after picking up an 8-5 win on the road over Parrott Academy Wednesday, securing their second victory of the season over the Patriots and improving to 6-5 overall.
In a game defined by smart base-running and timely execution, Frink showcased the same grit that’s carried them through an up-and-down but promising season. After defeating Parrott 9-4 in March, the Cavaliers proved it was no fluke by doing it again — this time in a more tightly contested battle.
Jesus Aguilar-Rubio continues to be a force at the plate, entering the week with a .379 batting average, 11 hits, and a team-leading 9 RBIs. He’s also one of just two Cavaliers to record a home run this season. The other? Mason Murphy, who once again came up big — both at the dish and on the mound. Murphy is now hitting .361 and leads the team with 4 doubles and 11 runs scored.
The tone was set early by Jacob Jones, one of the region’s most consistent hitters. Jones entered the game hitting .452, with a staggering 13 singles, 10 runs scored, and an OPS over 1.000. His presence in the lineup has been a steadying force from Game 1 to now.
Frink’s pitching tandem of Murphy, Connor Sutton, and Conner Bryant has been more than serviceable, combining for over 25 innings pitched and holding the line against tough lineups. The defense, while still ironing out a few miscues, continues to tighten when it matters most.
The Cavaliers now sit at 6-5 on the year, with statement wins over Bethel Christian, Rosewood, Jones Middle (twice), and now Parrott Academy (twice). Losses to Greene Middle and Woodington Raiders have offered learning moments, but this group has shown it can respond.
With key games ahead against Woodington and CSS, head coach and staff are focused on finishing strong. And if Wednesday’s win was any indication, Frink’s best baseball may still be in front of them.
