Brandon Ingram Traded to Toronto Raptors
The New Orleans Pelicans have traded Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick, according to Shams Charania. The move ends Ingram’s six-year tenure in New Orleans and marks a major shift for the Pelicans, who are currently 12-39 and sitting near the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
Ingram, a former Kinston High School standout and multi state champion, was acquired by New Orleans in 2019 as part of the Anthony Davis trade with the Lakers. He quickly became a key piece of the Pelicans’ future, earning an All-Star selection in 2020 and signing a five-year max contract that offseason. However, injuries and roster fit issues limited his ability to replicate that success, and with free agency looming, New Orleans had been exploring trade options.
This season, Ingram has averaged 21.3 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game, shooting 49.2% from the field and 35.6% from three. He now joins a Toronto team that is 18-32 and in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, looking to reshape its roster following the departures of Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby.
For New Orleans, the trade brings in assets as they prepare for a potential high lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, where they currently hold a 14% chance at the No. 1 overall selection.
