Strong Pitching Leads Trojans Past Conquerors 5-3
Bethel Christian Academy hosted Faith Christian Academy (Goldsboro) at Sutton Field on Friday afternoon. The Trojans built a 5-0 lead after three innings which would be enough runs to win their third straight game.
The Trojans sent #15 Cooper Williams to the mound to start the game. Williams was dominant on the mound in the start striking out 10 straight Conquerors. Williams would give up two hits and two runs in the inning but would also finish the inning with two strikeouts.
Williams came out in the top of the 5th but while warming up, tweaked his knee and would be replaced by Jamey Williams. J. Williams finished the game pitching 3 innings allowing one hit, one run and 5 strikeouts. The 17 total strikeouts by the Trojans were key to their winning success.
Bethel Head Coach Kenny Sutton was pleased with his team's overall performance in the win. “We worked ahead in counts and made pitches where we needed to”, Sutton said about his team's pitching.
#11 Braden Cash led the Trojans at the plate going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. “I'm glad I could come in for my team and get some RBI’s. They put me in a great position”, Cash said after the game.
The Trojans improved to 5-2 on the season with the win. Looking forward they will host Southside Christian and Jones High School next week as they will attempt to keep their momentum going.
