Blue Devils Advance to Round 3
The Blue Devils came out smoking hot!
The South Lenoir Blue Devils unleashed an offensive onslaught that stunned the North Johnston Panthers right from the get-go, catapulting them to a stunning 15-3 victory in the second round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs. The #22 seed Blue Devils pulled off an impressive upset against the #5 seed Panthers, scoring a whopping 14 runs by the third inning.
The Devils opened the game with an explosive seven runs in the first inning. Their aggressive offensive strategy effectively hamstrung the Panthers, who struggled to mount a significant response.
The Blue Devils' Landon Tyndall shutdown North Johnston on the mound pitching three good innings to help put the game out of reach.
On the other hand, the Panthers' pitcher Jackson King had a tough day on the mound. King lasted just two-thirds of an inning, giving up seven runs from seven hits and walking one.
South Lenoir's batting lineup was equally unstoppable, collecting 11 hits throughout the game. Remarkably, every player who made a plate appearance reached base, underlining the Blue Devils' total dominance.
After the game, South Lenoir's head coach David Combs lauded his team's performance. "This was a complete team win. We started in the first inning. We scored all seven runs in the first with two out. We hit it well with two strikes. The hits were contagious and I can't be any prouder of these guys," Combs said. He also praised Tyndall's pitching, noting, "Landon threw well. He got ahead of hitters early. He was pretty dang good through three innings."
The win put other playoffs teams on notice because South Lenoir is for real. Round three is next!
