Arendell Parrott Academy Cade Mixon Signs to Play Football and Baseball at North Carolina Wesleyan

KINSTON- Arendell Parrott Academy senior Cade Mixon has officially signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at North Carolina Wesleyan College. Cade, a standout in both football and baseball, will be playing for the Bishops in both sports.

An exceptional athlete, Cade has been a fixture on Parrott Academy’s varsity baseball team since his eighth-grade year. Over the years, he has maintained an impressive career batting average of .315. As a senior, he has assumed a leadership role on the team, serving as the starting shortstop and guiding the Patriots through another competitive season.

In addition to his achievements on the baseball field, Cade has also been a key contributor to the varsity football team since his ninth-grade year. His accolades are numerous. He has twice been named MVP of the football team and was recognized as the Big 8 South Division Defensive Player of the Year in 2025. He is a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection and shattered the school’s single-season tackle record this year, recording 201 tackles. His talent and dedication to the game also earned him a spot in the prestigious Gatlinburg All-American Bowl.

Cade’s four-year varsity football career includes remarkable statistics: 395 total tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and 5 interceptions. Additionally, he was part of the 2022 State Championship team, marking a historic achievement in Parrott Academy’s athletic program.

On the baseball diamond, Cade has also excelled, earning multiple All-Conference honors and being named a two-time member of the BodyArmor State Games. His consistent performance in both sports has made him a standout athlete throughout his high school career.

Robert Kravitz, Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director at Parrott Academy, shared his thoughts on Cade’s commitment to North Carolina Wesleyan.

"He has been a tremendous athlete for Parrott Academy, but he is just a better person and such a hard-working guy,"Kravitz said. "It’s going to be tough trying to play two sports at the college level, but if there’s anyone here who can do it, it’s definitely Cade."

When asked what Wesleyan is gaining in Cade, Kravitz was full of praise.

"They are getting a dude," he said. "This is a guy who’s going to work hard day in and day out. They’re getting someone who could potentially help them in two programs over the next four years."

Head Football Coach Matt Beaman also spoke highly of Cade’s abilities and work ethic.

"Very excited for Cade and the opportunity. How many kids get to live a lifelong dream of playing not one, but two sports in college? It’s a great opportunity for him," Beaman remarked. "He has lived in the weight room, and he’s got the mentality for it."

Beaman added, "They are getting a warrior. Cade’s dedication, both on and off the field, is something that will serve him well in his future endeavors."

After signing his NLI, Cade shared his excitement about continuing his athletic journey.

"Ever since I was four years old, I’ve been playing baseball and football," he said. "Just to be able to continue my career is hard to put into words because you never want to hang up the cleats, but I’m fortunate to keep on going."

Reflecting on the support he’s received throughout his athletic journey, Cade expressed gratitude for his family, coaches, and teammates.

"Anybody who plays sports knows it will beat you down to your knees," he said. "To have that support group around you to pick you up and keep you going when things get tough, it’s awesome."

As Cade embarks on the next chapter of his athletic career at North Carolina Wesleyan, there is no doubt that his work ethic, leadership, and passion for both football and baseball will continue to inspire those around him. His journey from the fields of Parrott Academy to the collegiate level is a testament to his dedication, and the North Carolina Wesleyan Bishops are gaining a truly special athlete in Cade Mixon.
