Trojans Top Dash United 8-4 Behind Strong Team Effort
KINSTON, N.C. — Bethel Christian Academy hosted Dash United on Tuesday evening and came away with an 8-4 victory, thanks to a strong all-around team performance.
Dash jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Trojans quickly took control, scoring seven unanswered runs over the next three innings to build a 7-1 lead heading into the fourth. The offensive surge was highlighted by a five-run third inning, where Bethel collected four hits. Cooper Williams got things started with a two-run single, followed by a two-run double from Will Wiggins. Jonathan White added an RBI single to cap off the big inning.
Dash responded with two runs in the top of the fourth and added another in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.
Williams finished 1-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, while Wiggins went 1-for-3 and drove in two. On the mound, White earned the win with 3.1 innings of work, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two. Jason Turnange pitched 1.2 innings in relief, giving up just one hit before Braden Cash came on to close. Cash was dominant, striking out five over two innings while allowing two hits and one run.
The win improves Bethel Christian’s record to 8-4 on the season. Tuesday’s game was the second of a three-game week for the Trojans, who now turn their attention to a highly anticipated home matchup against Greenville Christian on Thursday. The Knights enter with a 6-2 record, and the contest could serve as a potential playoff preview.
Trojans head coach Kenny Sutton expressed pride in his team’s performance and also commended the opposition.
“We got to use some pitchers that haven’t thrown a lot this season. Brayden came in and closed out the game for us,” Sutton said. “Dash’s pitching was very good, which is something we needed to see.”
