Trojans Dominate in Softball and Baseball with Big Conference Wins
Softball Team Rolls to 16-0 Victory
The Bethel Christian Academy Lady Trojans picked up a dominant 16-0 win over Wilmington Christian on Tuesday. The team got off to a strong start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Emersyn Smith was a key contributor, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs at the plate, while also pitching a complete game. She allowed just three hits, one walk and struck out five batters in her four innings of work. Bailey Smith also had a solid performance, going 2-for-3 with a triple, one RBI and a walk.
Assistant coach Curtis Narron praised the team’s effort, saying, “They came up to bat ready to swing at good pitches. Plate appearances were excellent today, and the hard work they’ve been putting in at the cage and in the field is paying off for these young ladies.”
Emersyn Smith added, “My team did really well behind me, and I felt like they had my back the whole way.”
The win marked the Lady Trojans’ third straight victory, improving their record to 5-2. They will face Wilson Christian at home on Thursday — a team they lost to 6-1 two weeks ago.
Baseball Team Cruises to 29-1 Victory
The Trojans’ baseball team followed suit with a dominant 29-1 win over Living Water Christian. After giving up an early run in the first inning, the team responded with 11 runs in the bottom half to take control of the game.
Senior Jonathan White earned the win, pitching three solid innings. He allowed just two hits, one run, one walk and struck out five batters. Jason Turnage came in to relieve White and struck out three consecutive batters to end the game.
Offensively, Jamey Williams and Cooper Williams each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Colby McQueery led the team with four RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Head coach Kenny Sutton was pleased with the pitching performance.
“Jon did an excellent job on the mound,” Sutton said. “I was pleased with how he pitched.”
White reflected on the game, adding, “The guys were all the way behind me. We’ve got a big game this Friday that we’re looking forward to.”
The win marked the Trojans’ third of the season, evening their record at 3-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Their next game will be against Southside Christian in Clayton, N.C.
