Southwest Onslow dominates on both sides of the ball in a 50-0 win over South Lenoir
Southwest Onslow came into the conference matchup with a record of 3-4, 2-1, and South Lenoir with a record of 1-6, 0-3. South Lenoir came in looking to get back in the win column as they haven't won since Week 2 against non-conference Jones Sr.
Southwest Onslow got off to a fast start by scoring on their first two possessions. Their first score came on a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Darrold Dorsey. Dorsey finished the game with 138 all-purpose yards and two scores, one rushing and one receiving. Running back Kj Blue had the second touchdown of the game, coming off a 60-yard run with 5:11 left in the first quarter. Kj Blue finished the night with two touchdowns as well. Southwest's defensive line created pressure all game, forcing four interceptions throughout the game and a few forced fumbles.
South Lenoir had a few lengthy drives to get into Southwest's red zone but just couldn't capitalize on the opportunities. Running back Kendarius Bey got going a bit more in the matchup. He had a few big gains throughout the matchup. Bey finished the game with more than 70 all-purpose yards on the ground and through the air. South Lenoir's defense created some turnovers and forced some stops throughout the matchup. Wyatt Reavis had a forced fumble, and both Luke Taylor and Bladen Davis had a fumble recovery.
Coach Will Harrell stated after the game, "We didn't execute when they gave us opportunities," also talking about the growth of freshman running back Kendarius Bey, stating, "The big runs he had tonight, he's finally getting in a groove."
