South Lenoir blanks Jones Senior 42-0

TRENTON, NC—Both South Lenoir and Jones Senior entered their non-conference matchup coming off week one losses. The tension between the two teams was palpable, marked by chatter, shoves, and punches. Ultimately, South Lenoir dominated, winning 42-0 over Jones Senior.

In the first quarter, South Lenoir scored on their second possession with a 25-yard quarterback draw from Reed Davis. Jones Senior managed to hold South Lenoir scoreless for the rest of the quarter, thanks to strong defensive performances from Daquaylon Moore, Gabriel Butler, Wylan Howard, and others.

The second quarter saw South Lenoir score twice within 26 seconds. The second Blue Devil touchdown came from a 13-yard pass from Reed Davis to Frank Haddock. Haddock also caught a 33-yard pass for the third touchdown. South Lenoir racked up 28 unanswered points in the second quarter alone.

The second half featured heightened intensity from both teams, with strong defensive showings from the Trojans and Blue Devils. Tempers flared from the end of the third quarter until the final whistle, resulting in one player from each team being ejected midway through the fourth quarter.

Coach Will Harrell of South Lenoir commented, "We saw a lot of growth, saw a lot of young kids step up and make some plays... a penalty flag can beat you faster than anything else." South Lenoir aims to clean up the penalties as they prepare for next week's home matchup against Dixon.

Jones Senior's Coach Zach Sellers spoke about minor mistakes, stating, "We started having little mistakes piece by piece... I told my guys we have to take it one play at a time, one snap at a time... a lot can happen over the course of the game that can get out of hand." Jones Senior will face North Duplin next week in another non-conference game.
