Ramsey's 32 Points Lead North Lenoir Over South Lenoir
Deep Run- In a thrilling basketball matchup, the North Lenoir Hawks showcased their dominance against the South Lenoir Blue Devils, emerging victorious with a commanding score of 73-42. Malachi Ramsey stole the spotlight with an outstanding performance, contributing an impressive 32 points to secure the win.
Ramsey said this in the post-game interview: “It felt incredible; we brought alot of energy, and I believe we can use this for more wins down the road.”
The Hawks wasted no time establishing their dominance, securing a commanding 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter. Ramsey showcased his scoring prowess by notching 10 of his 32 points in the opening quarter, while Jaquell Garner added six points to the Hawks' early tally. For the Blue Devils, senior guard Tanner Mentz chipped in with four points out of their total seven.
The second quarter saw Anton Black stepping up for the Hawks, contributing all seven of his points and helping his team surge to a 42-18 lead at halftime. Ramsey remained in top form, sharing the seven-point contribution with Black. The crowd erupted with excitement when Landon Oliver made a two-point basket. Junior guard Jo'Nathan Kennon led the Blue Devils with 5 points.
After the halftime break, North Lenoir continued to display their unwavering energy and determination. Ramsey had another standout quarter, amassing 13 points. South Lenoir's junior guard Christian Coples led the Blue Devils with six points during this period.
The fourth quarter mirrored the dominance of the first three, with North Lenoir extending their lead to a staggering 40 points at one point, initiating the running clock. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly Ramsey's steal and windmill dunk, igniting the North Lenoir crowd.
Ramsey about his windmill dunk said: “I knew we had a substantial lead, and I've been practicing for this moment. I really wanted an in-game windmill dunk, and it felt like the perfect time for it.”
Looking ahead, South Lenoir aims to break their six-game losing streak as they face Kinston at home on Thursday, with the Vikings having previously defeated the Blue Devils by a 42-point margin. Meanwhile, North Lenoir will host Kinston, seeking to build on their success and seeking redemption against the Vikings after last year's sweep.
