Rams fall 10-6 to Hunt
Greene Central and the Hunt Warriors squared off for the second time of the season. Greene Central lost to the Warriors 10-6 in seven innings. The Rams battled hard after giving up seven runs in the first inning.
The Rams came out hot early in the batter's box, getting one run across. Senior Wilks Thomas drove in Braden Burress on a fielder's choice. The Warriors responded in a major way. The Warriors knocked around Greene Central's starter. Braden Buress would come in relief to try and stop the bleeding.
One thing the Rams didn't do was give up. "We had every opportunity to hang it up after the first inning, but we grinded, and that was big for us." Head Coach Ben Brann of Greene Central
After being down 7-1 in the first inning, Buress was not going to allow Hunt to get off that easy. Burress threw a gem, only giving up three runs after the first, giving the Rams a real chance in this game. Greene Central would add a run in the second and third innings to make it a four-run game.
The Warriors again responded by putting up two in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Greene Central threw a punch right back at the Warriors, scoring three runs in the top half of the fifth inning to make it a 9-6 game.
Hunt would eventually put the game away, winning 10-6. Greene Central( 2-2) will have another tough game on Friday. The crosstown rival North Lenoir (3-1) travels to Snow Hill at 5 p.m.
