Pungo Christian Sweeps APA
Both the Boys and Girls Varsity teams from Arendell Parrott Academy hosted the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders Tuesday evening. Both Patriots teams would lose their games.
Boys Team: 57-48 Loss
For the first 24 minutes of their game, the Patriots looked to be in full control of the contest. However, after leading 46-41 after the 3 rd quarter, the Patriots would see the control shift over to the Raiders. The Patriots were outscored 16-2 in the final 8 minutes of the game to lose 57-48.
The Patriots were led in scoring again by Freshman, #11 Chase Jones. Jones scored 20 points in the loss while handling the point guard duties for Head Coach Clay Harrell’s team. “I'm not mad at the effort, tonight we got hit with a little adversity and didn't answer the right way. We will learn from this, and we will be better”, Harrell said after the loss. Looking ahead, Coach Harrell and his team will welcome in Wilson Christian Academy on Thursday evening. They will be looking to end a 3-game losing streak as they take on the Chargers.
Boys Scoring:
#11 Chase Jones: 20 points
#5 Fletcher Jones: 13 points
#0 Giorgio Parravicini: 8 points
#4 Connor Woelfel: 4 points
#3 Jaylen Solomon: 2 points
#10 William Corey: 1 point
Girls Team: 31-19 Loss
The Lady Patriots were once again unsuccessful in finding the winning column on Tuesday evening. This was the third straight game that the Lady Patriots have shown improvement from the start of the year.
A 12-point loss on paper is not what any coach would like to see, however the Lady Patriots were able to get great shots on the offensive in, they just couldn't get these shots to fall. The combination of not getting shots to fall and lack of energy on the defensive end would be the downfall for the Lady Patriots tonight. “I wanted a little more energy and effort on the defensive end.
The past two games we’ve stepped up and for some reason we didnt lock in on that side of the ball”, Head Coach Henry Pinner said after the loss.
The Lady Patriots were led in scoring by #3 Caroline Stocks who scored 5 points. The Lady Patriots will look to rebound from this loss and get their first win of the season on Thursday evening. As well as the boys, they will also host Wilson Christian Academ.
Girls Scoring:
#3 Caroline Stocks: 5 points
#11 Valli Blackwelder
#23 Ellen Jones: 4 points
#13 CJ Blackwelder, #14 Anna Grace Briley,; #15 Sydney Myers: 2 points
