Patriots drop nail biter to Saints 48-47

The atmosphere was electric Tuesday evening on the campus of Arendell Parrott Academy as the Patriots hosted the Saints from John Paul II. From start to finish, everyone in attendance was on the edge of their seats as the back-and-forth, fast-paced game unfolded. The Saints scored a deep 3-point shot with seconds remaining to secure a thrilling 48-47 win.

The loss dropped the Patriots to 3-13 on the season, and for Coach Clay Harrell, this isn't the first time this year that his team has faced a difficult loss. "This group deserves to be rewarded with wins, but they just aren't getting the results they deserve," Harrell said after the game.

The Patriots were led in scoring by #0 Girogio Parravicini with 17 points. Parravicini came off the bench for the Patriots and scored 16 of his 17 points in the second half. The Patriots were down 20-27 at halftime, and Parravicini's clutch shooting and lockdown defense got his team back in the game. #5 Fletcher Jones and #11 Chase Jones also scored in double digits with 10 points each for the Patriots.

There were some fireworks after the emotional game for both sides that led to some fans getting into a skirmish as the final whistle blew.

Even with the tough loss, there were bright spots for the Patriots. "I loved our fight, competitiveness, and everything we brought to the table. I hate that this group loses because they put in hard work every day, that no one sees," Harrell remarked.

Looking ahead, the Patriots will travel to Wilson on Thursday evening. They will be taking on a talented Greenfield team as they aim to end their losing streak and get back in the win column.
