North Lenoir Tennis Blanks Wallace-Rose Hill, Improves to 9-1 Overall
The North Lenoir Hawks continued their impressive run on the court Monday afternoon, delivering a 9-0 sweep over Wallace-Rose Hill to improve to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
North Lenoir set the tone early in singles, where the Hawks didn’t drop a single set. Junior Casey Alston and junior Maddox Smith both posted flawless 6-0, 6-0 wins at the top two spots. Senior Zachary Yarus matched the dominance at No. 3 with another 6-0, 6-0 performance.
Freshman Tyler Carson and freshman Timothy Wiggins showed poise beyond their years with straight-set wins, while sophomore Asher Yarus delivered a steady 6-0, 6-1 victory to complete the singles sweep.
In doubles, North Lenoir stayed locked in. Alston and Smith earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while the Yarus duo — Zachary and Asher — rolled to an 8-0 shutout at No. 2. Carson and Wiggins capped off the afternoon with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
The victory solidifies the Hawks’ spot at the top of the conference standings as they eye a strong postseason push.
