NNS 7-on-7 Showcase All-Tournament Team & MVPs
11U MVP- Jayce Peele Team Copper 11U
EXPLOSIVE! QUICK! GREAT HANDS! PLAYMAKER! Peele scored multiple touchdowns over 35+ yards, and nearly all were yards after the catch. His ability to turn a five-yard out catch into a 40-yard TD in tag football is amazing. No doubt, Peele was the most dynamic and most valuable player in the 11U bracket.
18U MVP- Jimmie West Jr- Next 7 Elite
Choosing the MVP was incredibly challenging. Shoutout to Jimmie West Jr., Johnathan Williams, Tyreek Copper, and RJ Lancaster because all four players were unstoppable and undoubtedly D1 wide receivers! West shined all day for Next 7 Elite. His ability to run all nine routes on the WR tree, combined with his long lanky arms and AUTOMATIC hands, made Jimmy West a problem for any matchup.
18U ALL-TOURAMENT TEAM:
QB- Jaylen Hewitt- Havelock (Next 7 Elite) - Tall quarterback with a flamethrower. Hewitt made all the throws, delivering them with power! This kid can sling a football and makes smart decisions in the pocket.
WR- Tyreek Copper, Kinston (Team Copper National) - Copper possesses everything you want in a WR. His route running is amazing, from short curls, in routes, slants, posts, and he is very dangerous on the deep ball. Copper is a QB's best friend with his 6’3" frame and the athletic ability to make spectacular plays. High IQ athlete that will be playing this game for a long time.
WR Johnathan Williams - Havelock (Next 7 Elite) - This kid is just a baller. Plug and play athlete but a superior athlete. Strong, athletic, agile, explosive, and great hands. Combination of strength, speed, and playmaking ability makes him almost impossible to cover.
WR Jimmie West Jr - West Craven (Next 7 Elite) - MVP. Swift route runner, gets in and out of cuts very fast. Long arms, big hands with big play ability. Very effective on the outside and makes almost every throw catchable. Very confident receiver and it reflects in his production on the field. West Jr. killed it.
WR RJ Lancaster - West Craven (Next 7 Elite) - Lancaster had a very good day. Strong, very good route runner, sure-handed, and clutch. One on one with any DB was a nightmare trying to cover this kid. Lancaster came to play with multiple TDs in multiple games.
WR Kilby Theiss - Laney High - (Carolina Recon) - Theiss made play after play for Carolina Recon. Very smart, quick twitch, and clutch. Theiss caught multiple TDs but his biggest one was a Hail Mary up the middle while being covered by three defenders on the last play of the game for the win. Eats cover two for a living.
WR Da’Vaius Johnson - South Central - (Team Copper National) - Mr. Head Tap. Mr. Throw It Up and I'mma get it! Da’Vaius Johnson had a heck of a day catching multiple balls above defenders' reach. Johnson is a big, tall target and an excellent red zone option.
CB Greg Ransom - JH Rose - (Team Copper National) - Greg is a good-sized corner that is going to put his hands on you. Uses his physicality and IQ to position himself to his advantage. Ransom had multiple pass breakups in an offensive-driven tournament.
CB Jamel Corney - Washington - (Team Copper Raleigh) - “Mel” is a dog. He has attitude and tenacity to help fight through tough spots to make plays. Corney had multiple interceptions and pass breakups. Very good at reacting and making a play on the ball.
Nickel Alex Moore - Kinston - (Next 7 Elite) - High IQ mixed with toughness makes this kid a perfect fit for a safety in the box or out of the box. Even though it's 7-on-7, Moore used his physicality to throw receivers off their route and timing. High energy, high motor, and leader on the field.
ATH DJ Davis - West Craven - (Next 7 Elite) - They say the Safety is supposed to be the QB on the defense. Ironically, that is exactly what he is; Davis played quarterback and free safety. At QB, he delivered and was no doubt one of the top guys on the field. On the defensive side, Davis uses his eyes very well, very smooth in his backpedal with a nose for the ball.
ATH Quinn MCcCaffery - JH Rose - (Team Copper National) - Quinn is not your typical 'athlete.' At 6’5" with muscle and speed, McCaffery can line up in the box, out wide, in the slot, and he has great hands in traffic. A big target with a fearless mentality and playmaking ability, he has very high potential. Too big to be covered by any DB and too athletic to be covered by a linebacker, he is a matchup problem.
