SNOW HILL —
The Woodington Raiders came up just shy in their second game of the season, falling 12-7 to Greene County on Wednesday evening in a hard-fought matchup.

Greene County took control early, capitalizing on a pair of Woodington errors and RBI singles from Drew and Samantha to take a first-inning lead. The home team added two more runs in the second thanks to back-to-back singles from Anna Grace and Drew, stretching their advantage.

Woodington (1-1) responded with a five-run sixth inning, stringing together timely hits and taking advantage of scoring opportunities. Madilyn Parker brought in a run on a fielder’s choice, Emily Jones was hit by a pitch to force in another, and Kassidy Simmons followed with an RBI single. Reagan Bumgarner then delivered a two-run single to bring the Raiders within striking distance.

Blaire Howard started in the circle for Woodington, going four innings and giving up eight hits and eight runs—only three earned—while striking out four and walking three. At the plate, Howard led the Raiders with a 3-for-4 performance. Simmons, Bumgarner, Jones, and Parker each finished with one RBI.

Greene County (2-0) was led by the duo of Drew and Anna Grace, who combined for six hits. Drew finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Anna Grace earned the win in the circle, striking out 10 and walking none in a complete-game effort. Greene County played clean defensively, committing no errors.

The Raiders will return to action Monday with a matchup against CSS.
