Male AOTW: Jaylen Solomon
The Male Athlete of the Week goes to Arendell Parrott Academy’s Jaylen Solomon. In APA’s huge win over John Paul II, Solomon tallied for a total of 281 yards and four touchdowns. We caught up with Jaylen, to get a better insight on his incredible game:
The encounters with JP2 always seem to be thrilling. Is there a particular excitement or motivation that envelops the team when facing them on the field?
Jaylen: This game definitely means more then some other games because it’s a big rivalry
Beyond the rivalry, what other factors or rituals contribute to your pre-game motivation? Do music or pre-game speeches play a part in getting the adrenaline flowing?
Jaylen: My favorite pregame song is GG by Nba Youngboy also the pregame speeches from all of our coaches
Reflecting on the intensity and stakes, how would you compare the significance of last year's game to this year's?
Jaylen: I think last year (APA won 66-60 over JP II) was a bigger game because it was the conference championship and I had the game winning touchdown.
