Lancers Win Season Opener, 3-1
In a thrilling start to the season, the Lenoir Community College Lancers secured a 3-1 victory against Central Carolina CC. The match showcased the Lancers' well-rounded skills, with solid hitting statistics distributed evenly across the team.
Sophomore Paytyn Jones led the way with a hitting percentage of .380, while freshman Hayli Verme contributed with a .300 hitting percentage. Sophomore transfer Rylee Casey also made her presence felt, hitting a respectable .250.
But the Lancers' strengths extended beyond their hitting abilities. The team displayed exceptional serving skills, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of above 90%. This precision from the service line put pressure on Central Carolina CC and helped control the pace of the game.
Sophomore setter Holly Cannon was a standout, leading the team with 27 assists and three serving aces. Mckenzee Moore also made a mark, serving at 100% with three aces.
The final scores of the match were 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 25-11. The Lancers will be back in action on Saturday at home versus Cleveland Community College at 1:00 p.m.
