Lady Patriots Clinch Breakthrough Win

The Arendell Parrott Academy Lady Patriots clinched their first victory of the season, triumphing over Faith Christian Academy with a decisive 54-12 score. This win marks a significant milestone for a team that started the season with an 0-8 record, hinting at a potential resurgence in their performance.

Leading the charge for the Patriots were Callie Sanderson and Valli Blackwelder, each contributing 11 points. Their efforts were bolstered by Julia Begelman and Anna Grace Bailey, who added 9 and 8 points, respectively. This balanced scoring attack was a key factor in their success.

However, it was the Patriots' defense that truly shined, demonstrating a level of tenacity and coordination that left Faith Christian scoreless in both the first and third quarters. This smothering defense was a pivotal aspect of their game strategy, laying the foundation for their offensive runs.

Coach Henry Piner expressed a sense of relief and pride post-game. "I think it more of a relief than anything else. We have been working so hard at practice, we have had close games, close calls and just couldn't finish those games and we finally did tonight. We just played together, I am super proud of the girls," he remarked, highlighting the team's perseverance and unity.

The Lady Patriots' strategy of pushing the pace and capitalizing on transition opportunities was evident throughout the game. This approach, according to Coach Piner, was instrumental in their win. "We got in the open court tonight, we pushed the pace. We got wide and got into transition a lot, when you get into transition like we did tonight, good things happen, and hopefully, that will continue," he explained, underscoring the team's dynamic playstyle.

Looking forward, the Lady Patriots face a formidable opponent in the undefeated Wayne Christian, who boast an 8-0 record. This upcoming game, set in Goldsboro, presents another opportunity for the Patriots to showcase their newfound momentum
