The North Lenoir Lady Hawks bounced back in a big way, defeating the Wayne Christian Lady Eagles 39-27 in the second round of the FCA Women’s Winter Classic at Lenoir Community College. This marks the fourth year of the event, with North Lenoir making their second consecutive appearance. Head coach Howard Wooley is a fan of the tournament, saying, "It’s a great event with top-tier talent. The girls love the setup, and it’s a great opportunity to support the FCA and their message."

After a tough 47-36 loss to Eastern Wayne in their opening game, the Lady Hawks came out firing. Sophomore Ta’Sheena Lynch was the standout performer, leading her team with 21 points and contributing key rebounds and defensive plays. “I just got into the game. We need to keep hitting the easy shots and crashing the boards,” Lynch said post-game.

Wooley praised his team’s resilience, noting, "It was a solid game. We played hard, and I’m proud of how they responded." North Lenoir jumped out to an early 13-7 lead after the first quarter but only held a narrow 20-19 advantage at halftime.

The Lady Hawks took control in the second half, pulling away with strong defensive play, limiting Wayne Christian to just 8 points after the break. “We played great defense, stayed disciplined, and got some easy baskets,” Wooley said of the second-half effort.

Freshman Cassadie Fraser also made her mark, contributing 10 points, while fellow freshman Kennedi Strakie added 6 points in the win. North Lenoir will return to action in the fifth-place game against Rosewood.
