Kinston/Lenoir County 8U All-Stars Secure District 4 Championship Title

The Kinston/Lenoir County 8U All-Stars secured the title of North Carolina District 4 Champions on Saturday evening in Havelock, NC. By winning this tournament, they will now play for an opportunity to become state champions this weekend in Wilson, NC.

Despite weather delays, extreme heat, and being the visiting team in all three games they played, the team played their hearts out to secure three wins, all invoking the 10 run rule due to outstanding performances at the plate. The team defeated Morehead City 17-5 on June 26, Newport 22-11 on June 28, and Newport 18-7 on June 29. "Their bats were hot with each player contributing to putting runs on the scoreboard. Their performance at the plate and on the field was a result of 13 long practices over the last 22 days in preparation for the tournament. In addition to performing well offensively and defensively, the team displayed outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork," Coach Jeffrey Wilson said.

"We celebrated the win as a team after the game and now are back into work mode as we continue practices this week to prepare for the upcoming tournament," Coach Wilson said. "We want to thank our team, parents, friends, and family for all of the support. We would love for anyone who can to come out and support the team as we try to bring the state title back to Lenoir County this weekend!"
