Kinston Wingmen Stumble Against Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs in Rain-Shortened Game
The Kinston Wingmen couldn't keep up with the Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs, falling 10-0 in a game cut short by heavy rain in the sixth inning on Friday.
The Wingmen's only bright spot came in the first inning, when Carter Starkweather singled, but the team struggled to generate any further offense.
Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs' pitcher Cale Beckman earned the victory on the mound. Beckman allowed just four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three. Aulden Richardson provided relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.
On the other side, Cole Hansen took the loss for the Wingmen. Hansen pitched two and a third innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out one.
Fisher Harrison, Judson Collier, Dawson Ables, Bryce Stanton, and Starkweather each contributed one hit to lead the Wingmen.
Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs, on the other hand, saw the ball well, racking up ten hits in the game. Derek Francis, Aiden Payne, and Landon Everhart each collected multiple hits for Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs, with Francis leading the way with three hits in three at-bats.
The loss brings the Wingmen's season record to 12-11. Despite the recent stumble, the team has won six of their last nine games, showing resilience and the potential for a strong finish to the season. The Kinston Wingmen will look to bounce back in their next game.
