Kinston Dominates Blue Devils

Kinston Dominates Blue Devils

In a remarkable display of athletic prowess and strategic execution, Kinston High School extended their extraordinary winning streak against South Lenoir to 37-0, a run dating back to 2005. The Vikings, showcasing their dominance, triumphed with a resounding 77-23 victory, elevating their record to an impressive 14-3 overall and maintaining a pristine 7-0 in conference play, firmly placing them at the top of the standings.

The game was a testament to Kinston's fast-paced play and stifling defense, which left South Lenoir struggling to find their footing. By the end of the first quarter, the Vikings had already established a commanding 22-9 lead, thanks in large part to Keyshawn Herring's remarkable 8-0 run. This momentum carried Kinston into halftime with a staggering 46-15 advantage.

Herring, who concluded the game with 16 points, proved too much for the Blue Devils to handle. Yet, he wasn't the sole contributor to the Vikings' overwhelming success. Jaeven Dixon added another dimension to the team's performance with 8 points, playing a crucial role in the comprehensive win.

On the other side, South Lenoir, now 3-14 overall and 0-7 in conference play, saw Tanner Mentz and Kam Winter each contributing six points, leading the team in a challenging matchup.

Reflecting on the victory, Kinston's Coach Tyndall acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining energy in consecutive games. "Back-to-back nights are always tough, coming back and bringing the same energy every night," he commented. His pride in the team's response and ability to secure a conference win was evident. "I thought the guys responded well, and it's always good to get a conference win. I'm proud of my guys tonight," Tyndall remarked, highlighting the team's resilience and collective effort in this dominant performance.
