Hawks keep flying, North Lenoir 8 Wallace-Rose Hill 2

The North Lenoir Hawks (9-2, 5-1) dominated Wallace-Rose Hill in an 8-2 softball victory on Thursday. The Hawks' offense ignited in the first inning, with Alyssa Hatcher's three-run homer on a 1-2 count, setting the tone for the game.

Maddie Rouse took the circle for the Hawks, pitching seven innings and allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out six. The team displayed strong defense, committing no errors.

The Hawks' offense tallied eight hits, with Alivia Whitley, Lakyn Whitley, and Hatcher collecting multiple hits. Notable stats include Lakyn Whitley's 1-3 performance with a run and a stolen base, Hallie Fowler's 1-4 and a run, and Maddie Rouse's two walks, two runs, and an RBI.

Coach Bobby Hatcher praised Alyssa Hatcher's performance, saying, "She was big. It’s good to jump on any team early, and that HR in the first was a good way to start the game." He also commended her plate discipline and swing throughout the night.

The win puts the hawks tied in third in the East Central Conference behind undefeated in conference play East Duplin and tied with South Lenoir for third.
