Greene Central Volleyball Secures Second Win of the Week
SNOW HILL — Greene Central High School's volleyball team clinched another conference win Tuesday night, defeating Southwest Edgecombe 3-1. The victory marks the Rams' second win this week and improves their conference record to 3-2 and their overall season record to 8-3.
The Rams dominated the first set with a decisive 25-12 win, followed by a 25-19 victory in the second set. Southwest Edgecombe managed to steal the third set, 25-20, but Greene Central regained momentum to close out the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth set.
Makayla Memmelaar led the team with 17 service points. Donley Phillips, Parker Toole, and Rylee each contributed a team-high eight kills. Laci Baker orchestrated the Rams' offense, setting up her teammates with 29 assists.
After the match, Greene Central's head coach, Emily Lahr, praised her team's performance. "I think the girls played very well and we were able to use our strengths to close out sets," Lahr said. "They came together and fought when times were tough. Working together and realizing our strength in communication and effort made a huge difference in the match."
The Rams are set to face off against conference rival Farmville Central on Thursday.
