Frink's Comeback Victory: Ingram Shines as Frink Rallies to Cap Off Stellar Season
Submitted by: Coach Nathan Smith
Woodington stunned Frink in the 1st half with their different formations and trick plays. At halftime, Frink's offense had not taken a snap and was down 0-14 knowing they had a lot of ground to make up in the 2nd half. During halftime, Frink recognized their 8th grade football players and cheerleaders.
After halftime, Frink came out firing on all cylinders. making big plays to put up 30 unanswered points in the last 10 minutes of the game. 8th grader Donovan Ingram took over the game in the 2nd half, scoring 3 of Frink's 4 touchdowns. The last touchdown came from a kick return fumble that Isavion "Puda" Blackmon picked up and took to the house. Amare Farrow and Bryson James made big contributions to the offense. It all comes back to Donovan Ingram. He refused to go down when he got the ball.
Coach Smith said this about Donovan: "Donovan has the biggest heart of any 8th grader I know. He is a leader on and off the field and he is always working to improve himself. He is not only an outstanding athlete, but he is also an outstanding person. That is what makes him special!"
Frink's defense struggled in the first half allowing Woodington to score 14 points and never letting the Frink offense on the field. In the 2nd half they locked down Woodington, not allowing another point and also causing a safety for 2 points. Bryson James made a huge impact on defense helping Frink secure the win.
Frink finished the season with a 4-1 overall record and a 3-1 conference record. It was a great season!
