North Lenoir, South Lenoir, and Greene Central competed in the 33rd annual Pierce-Davis Tournament.
The 33rd annual Pierce-Davit Wrestling Tournament at North Pitt High School featured 21 teams competing over the weekend, including some of North Carolina’s top programs. Tournament officials noted this is one of the biggest wrestling events of the year in the state, drawing in contenders such as First Flight, J.H. Rose, D.H. Conley, and West Carteret.
First Flight won the team title, finishing with 204 points. North East Carolina Preparatory School placed second with 156, and R.J. Reynolds claimed third with 151. Greene Central secured 14th place at 59 points, while South Lenoir ended in 15th with 50. North Lenoir finished 19th, collecting 23 points.
Individual highlights included South Lenoir’s Bladen Davis, who placed fourth in the 138-pound weight class. On Friday, North Lenoir’s Angel Lee competed in the girls’ division and placed third in the 114-pound weight class with a 2-1 record.
