Falcons Soar, Hawks Plummet in 56-6 Rout
WHEAT SWAMP—After a long four-day wait, North Lenoir finally hosted CB Aycock on Tuesday, only to suffer a crushing 56-6 defeat. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-3 for the season, while CB Aycock improves to 3-0.
CB Aycock's ground game was unstoppable, racking up 308 rushing yards in the first half alone and finishing the game with a total of 385 team rushing yards. Zimere McClarin led the Falcons with three touchdowns, including a 73-yard rushing score, a 4-yard rushing TD, and a 17-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Ricky Elliott also stood out, most notably with a 96-yard rushing touchdown that broke the game wide open.
The Falcons' defense was equally impressive, swarming the Hawks all night and forcing multiple fumbles and blocking a punt to return for a touchdown. Four of CB Aycock's touchdowns came on the defensive side of the ball.
Despite the loss, Malik Fuller had a standout performance for North Lenoir, finishing with 16 carries for 164 yards and the Hawks' lone touchdown. MJ Pippin contributed with 9 rushes for 39 yards.
"We got to take care of the body Thursday, resting up the guys that took a lot of snaps," said North Lenoir coach Larry Dale, as the team prepares to travel and face East Carteret in less than 72 hours.
