Carolina Mudcats wins the series 5-1 over the Wood Ducks

In an intense six-game series, the Carolina Mudcats triumphed over the Down East Wood Ducks winning five out of the six game series. The Mudcats showcased their prowess in hitting and pitching, ultimately leading them to dominate the series.

The Mudcats started strong in game three, with Barrios scoring on an RBI double by Avina in the first inning. They continued to add runs throughout the game, thanks to key plays like Guilarte's two-RBI triple in the top of the ninth. The Mudcats claimed victory with an 8-3 win, and starter Herrera earned the win for the night.

In game four, the Mudcats managed to keep the Woodies' bats quiet, with starter Peterson allowing only one runner to reach scoring position in his 4.0 innings pitched. The Mudcats scored two runs in the top of the ninth, giving them a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. However, the Woodies staged a thrilling comeback, as Yosy Galan smashed a three-run walk-off homer, resulting in a 4-3 win for the Wood Ducks.

The teams faced off in a doubleheader for games one and two, due to the previous night's game being postponed. In game one, the Mudcats jumped on Wood Ducks' starter Aidan Curry early, with Luke Adams hitting a two-run blast. Despite the Woodies tying the game 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, the Mudcats prevailed in extra innings, winning 3-2.

In game two, the Wood Ducks took an early lead with a solo home run from Miguel Villarroel. The Mudcats, however, managed to rally in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on two home runs and a balk. The Woodies fought back in the sixth but fell short, resulting in a 4-3 Mudcats win.

With an impressive 5-1 series win, the Mudcats (8-6) demonstrated their strength as a team, while the Wood Ducks (6-8) will look to bounce back during their upcoming two-week road trip. The Wood Ducks return to Grainger Stadium on May 9th to play Delmarva for Tribute Tuesday, presented by Starbucks.

Fans can enjoy various promotions at the games, including Mother Earth Friday with $4 draft Mother Earth beer, Pepsi Saturday with $2 off tickets for bringing in a Pepsi can, and giveaway clear bags sponsored by Piggly Wiggly, Crav'n, Cheez-it, Frito Lay, and Pepsi.
