BREAKING NEWS: South Lenoir Head Coach and Athletic Director Resigns After Three Seasons

BREAKING NEWS

DEEP RUN—South Lenoir High School’s head football coach and athletic director, Will Harrell, has decided to step down after three seasons, citing family reasons for his resignation. Harrell, who posted a 5-24 record during his tenure, faced the formidable challenge of leading a team in one of North Carolina’s toughest football conferences.

Despite the struggles, Harrell’s time at South Lenoir was marked by a memorable achievement: defeating North Lenoir at home last game of the season his second year. His efforts and dedication to the Blue Devils will be remembered by the community.

“Coach Harrell is a great guy and coach. South Lenoir is appreciative of all he has done in the past few years and certainly support him as he moves on to his next coaching destination. We all wish him well,” said South Lenoir Principal Elizabeth Pierce.

Harrell plans to continue his coaching career as an assistant at Clinton High School, where he hopes to bring his experience and passion for the game to a new environment.

South Lenoir will begin the search for a new head coach and athletic director immediately, aiming to build on the foundation Harrell has laid.
