Barrow and Rams win EPC Championship
SNOW HILL, N.C.— The Greene Central Rams secured their first conference championship since 2013 on Friday, defeating West Craven 5-1 in a dominant performance on both sides of the field.
On the mound, Braden Burress showcased his pitching prowess. Over seven innings, Burress allowed a mere four hits and one run, striking out eight and walking none. With only five earned runs allowed in 51 innings pitched this season, Burress has become an essential part of the Rams' success.
Offensively, the Rams tallied 13 hits in the game, with Leland Barrow, Noah Uzzell, and Lucas Ellis each contributing multiple hits. Barrow led the charge, going 4-for-4 and driving in two runs.
"I saw a lot of outside pitches and breaking balls, but they couldn't get it past me," said Leland Barrow when asked about his performance at the plate.
The Greene Central Rams displayed exceptional skill on defense, committing no errors throughout the game. Sophomore third baseman Easton Creech made multiple plays at the hot corner.
Easton Creech said this when asked about his defense. "We work on it every day; it gets us ready to make plays in big games."
Head Coach Ben Brann of Greene Central acknowledged the significance of this victory, stating, "We talked about our goals in the off-season, and this was number one." Looking ahead, Coach Brann added, "We still have to face a good Farmville Central team and then get ready for the playoffs."
