Solomon’s Six Touchdowns Power Patriots to 64-30 Win Over Eagles

The Arendell Parrott Acandemy Patriots hosted the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles at Hodges Field in Kinston on Friday evening. The Patriots started out slow in the game but turned on their jets in the second half for the 64-30 victory.

The game was played on a damp field after rain soaked Eastern NC earlier in the day. The win is the fourth in a row for the Patriots (4-1) and also marked their fourth consecutive conference win.

The Patriots were led once again by their Senior Star Running Back #5 Jaylen Solomon. Solomon recorded 6 total touch downs in the victory. Solomon rushed the ball 16 times accumulating 234 yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns. Solomon also had two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown while also adding a punt return touchdown to his tally.

Sharing rushing duties with Solomon was #11 Mason Mooring. Mooring like his counterpart, eclipsed 100 yards of rushing during the game. Mooring had 112 yards on 7 rushing attempts and found the endzone twice.

The Patriots, even with early rushing success, found themselves in a close game at half leading 22-14. Patriot Head Coach, Matt Beaman, was proud of his teams bounce back after a sluggish start. “We had a little gut check at halftime, but I was really proud of the guys responding”, Beaman said.

“Proud of the effort. Four turnovers by the deffense, special reams touchdown. Overall a good game, just felt like we gave up too many points”, Beaman said of his team. The Patriot defense led by Senior duo of #21 Cade Mixon and #30 Luke Stocks was huge for the Patriot’s success against an dangerous Eagles team.

Mixon recorded 18 total tackles including 4 for a loss, 1 sack and an interception in the game. Stocks had 10 total tackles, 2 for a loss and also an interception. #7 Braeden Shaver and #1 Cooper Coman each had an interception in the contest.

Looking ahead, the Patriots will look to continue their momentum as they welcome rival John Paul II next Friday night. The Patriots won a thrilling game in Greenville last year 42-35. Coach Beaman knows that the game next week will be another game in a season where the Partiots will be tested. “It’s always a good game when John Paul and Parrott play. We are looking forward to it. We have to have a great week of preparation”, Beaman declared
