No. 4 Greene Central will face No. 5 North Pitt at Southwest Edgecombe tonight (Monday) at 6:00 p.m. The winner will advance to the second round to take on No. 1 seed Farmville Central on Wednesday, pending weather conditions.

No. 4 Greene Central (10-11, 5-7) vs. No. 5 North Pitt (7-17, 3-9)

Greene Central has already faced North Pitt twice this season, winning both matchups (66-51, 64-60). However, beating a team three times in a row is never easy, making this a game not to overlook. The most recent meeting was a tightly contested 64-60 victory for the Rams at home, further proving how competitive this matchup could be.

The Rams have lost three of their last four games and could be without key players following last week’s matchup against North Lenoir. However, this provides an opportunity for others to step up, with senior point guard Dontrez Evans leading the charge. Evans has been the Rams’ offensive anchor, averaging 12.4 points per game while shooting 53% from the field.

Junior forward Jason Wilson has been the Rams leader on the boards, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game, while DJ Williams and Nick Avent will play crucial roles in the Rams' balanced scoring attack. Williams is averaging 9.7 points per game, and Avent is contributing 8.5, making them key factors in Greene Central's ability to control the tempo.

North Pitt, meanwhile, has won two of its last four games and is led by a talented trio of sophomores—J’Khye Dixon, Trakeyvion Pittman, and Elisha Barrett. Their ability to create scoring opportunities and apply defensive pressure will be critical in this matchup.

With both teams eager to extend their postseason run, expect a hard-fought battle as Greene Central looks to complete the season sweep, while North Pitt aims to flip the script and keep its playoff hopes alive.
